Earth Rites

Overload

Overload: In addition to losing all hit points, the Weaver(s) immediately suffer a roleplay effect which they continue to roleplay for as long as they wish. The effect should be fitting for the Earth sphere. Some examples include:

  • You feel yourself being swallowed and crushed by the Earth.
  • Fungal spores grow in your throat and choke you.
  • Your heart becomes motionless and stops beating.
  • Your skin calcifies and turns to stone, the weight of which pulls you to the ground.

Rites list

Commune with Nature

Cast time: 2 minutes

Level:  1

Duration: Instantaneous

Extension: Every Flicker of Earth expended in the rite increases the number of targets (characters) who receive the vision by 1 – (Each Flicker also increases the rite level by 2)

Range: Touch through foci

Effect:  To perform this Rite, please inform a referee before you begin. This rite bestows insight into the natural history of the local area, by attuning the target with the land around them. By paying close attention, they can sense fine details such as: did this area used to be above ground, was it flooded, was it corrupted, were there any significant buildings or acts that have corrupted the area?

Harvest of Restoration

Cast time: 2 minutes

Level: 2

Duration: 5 minutes

Extension: Every Flicker of Earth increases the duration by 5 minutes – (Each Flicker also increases the rite level by 2)

Range: Touch through foci

Effect: This rite swells a fruit or vegetable with nurturing energy, such that the Earth itself will restore and care for the person who eats it. If it is consumed within 5 minutes (which can be done via roleplay), it will restore that character’s hit points equal to their armour hits (the number of extra hits that you gain from using your armour). If it is not consumed in time then the power will disappear. The fruit may be passed between people after empowerment but can only be eaten by 1 person. Each Weaver who enacts this rite may not do so again until the full duration has passed.

Solid Stance

Cast time: 1 minute

Level: 3

Duration: 5 minutes

Extension:  Every Flicker of Earth expended in the rite  increases the duration by 5 minutes – (Each Flicker also increases the rite level by 2)

Range: Touch through Foci

Effect: The Earth knows its place and will neither be pushed back nor drawn forward until the moment it decides to shift. This rite grants the targets the same mental and physical stability. By weaving Earth through their foci, the Weaver grants 3 targets the ability to ignore the calls ‘Fury’ and ‘Stagger’, responding with ‘No Effect’.

Binding Root

Cast time: 30 seconds

Level: 3

Duration: 5 minutes

Extension:  Every Flicker of Earth expended in the rite increases the duration by 5 minutes – (Each component also increases the rite level by 2)

Range: 5 metres

Effect: This rite when cast on a target, prevents them from moving any more than five metres away from the Weaver. The rite is broken if the Weaver enters a critical state. For the duration of this rite, the Weaver cannot take any other action apart from movement and may only move at a slow walking pace. They also must be continuously performing roleplay to signify the rite is in action. This may only be performed outside of a dangerous area (Not in combat)

Tangle of Thorns

Cast time: 30 seconds

Level: 5

Duration: Instantaneous

Extension: Every Flicker of Earth expended in the rite increases the number of additional targets by 1 – (Each component also increases the rite level by 2)

Range: 5 Metres

Effect: Thorns, vines, and weeds spring from the ground in an instant, wrapping around and digging into everything they touch. Upon completing the Wyrd Draw, the Weaver may choose a target within 5 metres and call ‘Entangle’. They may then repeat this against 2 additional targets, each within 5 metres of the Weaver and adjacent to a previous target.

Nature’s Rest

Cast time: 2 minutes

Level: 5

Duration: 5 minutes

Extension:  This rite cannot be extended 

Range: Touch through foci

Effect: This rite empowers a small group of people so that their next rest will magically recuperate their strength. It may only be cast within a calm and peaceful atmosphere (not on a battlefield, near combat, etc). Up to 5 targets may immediately spend 5 minutes relaxing and resting, roleplayed in any way appropriate to their character. Each target who does so without being disturbed by nearby danger or combat will recover all their spent Vigor.
