Ever since the Freeholds have taken over government of Avereaux, the Guilds have been taken a keen interest in the Nation and tried to get a foothold in each, but some have been more successful than others. King Lambert the Bold and his predecessors were slow to see the benefits the Guilds could offer, and it has only been since his death that Guildhalls have been a ubiquitous sight in the Freeholds. Previously only Moonvigil Isle held a branch of the Banker’s Guild, before its destruction during a great storm.
As expected, representatives of the Adventurers Guild have been accepted with open arms due to their interest that so aligns with the nation’s. This has meant that the adventuring parties of Avereaux have another avenue for work with the guild offering international contracts, where they have mixed more freely with similarly minded people of all other nations. In particular a friendly rivalry with Morvalis has formed, where Hedge Mages and Gravecallers compete for success with their nations’ people behind them, and Chevaliers go toe to toe with Dreadguard against monsters and bandits alike.
The Banker’s Guild was always going to end up in Avereaux – once the guild proved itself to be worthy of being entrusted with the wealth and treasures of Avereaux they were tentatively allowed to open branches in the Freeholds. Even to this day, some are reluctant to entrust the banks with family heirlooms due to their personal significance and many still entrust the safekeeping of such things to the Chroniclers.
The Court of Daggers understandably was the slowest to gain prominence in the Freeholds. The people of Avereaux widely trust their own people to conduct themselves with honour and decency, and if all else fails the remnant of the Royal Griffin Guard could be entrusted to restore order. With the other nations accepting the guild, Avereaux obliged and allowed the Guild to set up halls if only in the pursuit of conducting business in a lawful and mutually agreeable manner.
