The Hearth

The Hearth is the god of home and health, and their presence is felt wherever warmth and care are shared. They watch over the flickering campfires of weary travellers, the sick struggling through misfortune, the healers who mend bodies and spirits, and those who open their homes to others. The Hearth embraces all, but they are especially drawn to places where Elandrains physically, mentally, or spiritually support one another. The Hearth’s presence can be felt wherever kindness is offered, community is found, or a meal is shared.

Tenets of the Hearth

  • Healing hands need open hearts – Care to the wounded, sick, and weary. Whether through medicine, heartening words, or a calming presence we must ease the burdens of others.
  • Tend the fire –  A fire left unattended will fade; so too will love, trust, and kindness if not nurtured. Stoke the flames of community, care, and tradition so they may continue to burn brightly.
  • Be the shelter in the storm – Whether from a raging storm or the burdens of the soul, all seek refuge at some point. Be the steady hand, the open door, and the comforting presence that provides safety without question.

Aspects of the Hearth

The Physiker

This aspect of the Hearth appears when people hover between life and death. They can be seen walking city streets during plagues or at the triage stations on battlefields, offering comfort to the dying and encouraging those who can pull themselves back towards Elandra. They do not try to cheat The Reaper of those whose time has come, only to prevent those who can be saved from visiting that domain early.

The Guest

The Hearth likes to feel and witness how Elandrains treat their guests, and likes to play that guest. Be it a figure asking for warmth by the fire during a dark night with adventurers or getting a room at an inn. They are very much interested in the tales and health of those that are around them. Many adventurers talk of a figure always different but seemingly the tale is the same the next morning they wake to their supplies refilled and their wounds healed, if they treated the guest well. Others have spoken about their supply all being rotten and their wounds itching when they turned away the guest.

The Host

The Host is the other side of the coin to the Guest – most tales about them are of a fireside cook, willing to share a pot of stew with those who require it, some adventurers mention of whole inns appearing around corners, then after a night or two disappearing again. The Hearth personification as the host is happy to help those grateful guests with any needs. Those that don’t act as thankful guests usually find many things don’t go their way.
