Morvalis follows a fairly rigid military structure for its armies. The Houses of Dusk represent the ultimate leadership; their armies are made up of vast legions of undead as well as the Vassal Families who serve under them. The rank-and-file army in Morvalis is made up entirely of undead; many of them are dead from other places, particularly Syradonia. These armies are large, and do not come to gatherings; instead, the Houses elect a General or Commander from their Vassal Families to lead their forces. However, there are several units of more high-quality undead, and it is considered quite an honour to fight for Morvalis until your physical form deteriorates to non-use, conquering territory on their behalf.

Axioms
There are plenty of living warriors of all types in Morvalis, formed into groups called Axioms by the Vassal Families. These units can be a variety of things from Gravecallers that control the undead legions to a unit of Dreadguard acting as an elite vanguard that can operate independently with superior tactical knowledge and ability.
Magical support is often common in Morvalin armies as a nation steeped in the power of Athria, and Bloodshades can be found providing precision magical offense.
While Axioms are usually aligned to a specific house the nature of the fight against the Corruption has resulted in the several larger Axioms that are not used to fighting together. These have had mixed success as Morvalis learns to work together against the backdrop of a cut-throat political environment but when assembled the banners of Morvalis united is a fearsome site to behold.
Shadow companies and Honoured Companies
Shadow Companies are not always soldiers but the archetypal view of them is a mercenary fighting force with shared ideals. Aiming to be raised as Honoured Dead the Company often attempt daring, sometimes reckless military strategies that succeed and fail by their skill and camaraderie. To be raised as an Honoured Company for the deeds during life is one of the highest honours in Morvalin culture and woe betide any foe who faces them in battle.
