Traffic Management:
Job Description: You will help regulate the flow of traffic as part of a large professionally directed traffic control team. We will have a clearly defined traffic plan that will be shared with you prior to performing your duties. It’s very simple and largely involves good communications to keep a one way system flowing. You will also guide traffic into appropriate parking areas around the site with some positions on the field checking QR codes and ticket types for routing. High visibility vests will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own.
Shift Requirements: On site and ready to manage traffic by Thursday 12pm.
Thursday from 12-7pm
Friday from 9am-5.30pm.
Sunday 3.15pm-6pm
Members of the traffic team will be rotated off their positions for breaks and refreshment throughout these shifts. We understand that Thursday and Friday are long shifts and we plan to work with the assembled team to split those up so nobody is on traffic the full day.
Note: This is not a full time crew position and allows members of the Traffic Management team to play the entire game at a discounted rate. Catering is provided to Traffic Management for the following days: Thursday, Friday and Sunday dinner after shift.
LARP Referee:
Job Description:
Refs are the facilitators and arbiters of the Menhirs Fate LARP experience. They work behind the scenes and directly with players to ensure the game runs smoothly, fairly, and immersively, bringing the world and its unfolding fate to life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rules Adjudication: Make fair and timely rulings on game mechanics, combat outcomes, skill usage, and spell effects according to the Menhirs Fate ruleset.
- Safety Oversight: Monitor player safety (physical and emotional) and enforce safety protocols. Halt unsafe play immediately.
- Plot Facilitation: Help guide and implement storylines, trigger events, provide clues, and react dynamically to player actions to advance the overarching narrative concerning the Menhirs and destiny.
- Player Support: Answer player questions (Out-of-Character), clarify rules, and assist players in engaging with the game world and mechanics.
- Logistics & Setup: May assist with setting up game areas, props (potentially related to Menhirs), and managing specific encounter logistics.
Skirmish Crew Member:
Job Description:
Members of the Menhirs Fate Skirmish Crew are the dedicated combatants who primarily portray antagonists, monsters, and other oppositional forces during planned encounters and dynamic events. Their role is crucial for providing players with challenging, exciting, and narratively relevant combat experiences tied to the unfolding fate of the world and the mystery of the Menhirs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Combat Portrayal: Effectively and safely portray various combatant roles (e.g., monsters, bandits, soldiers, as directed by your Skirmish captain, using LARP-safe combat techniques.
- Following Direction: Receive briefings and follow instructions from Refs and Skirmish Captains regarding encounter objectives, tactics, special abilities, and role portrayal.
- Rules Adherence: Strictly adhere to Menhirs Fate combat rules, safety guidelines, and hit-taking conventions.
- Quick Changes: Be prepared to quickly change costumes, gear, and personas between different encounters or waves. Reliability: Be available and ready for deployment at designated times and locations during the game.
- Safety Awareness: Maintain constant awareness of both player and crew safety during combat scenarios, prioritizing safe engagement.
Game Control Assistant
Job Description:
Game Control’s principal task is oversight of the entire field. They help all teams in all aspects of the game. They are also the first port of call for any questions in the game. They work behind the scenes to ensure that the game runs smoothly and on time. This volunteer role is very time intensive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Liaising with crew before, during and after an event:Game control is all about communication and assistants will help disseminate knowledge and information throughout the field to ensure that all crew are aware of what is going on.
- Plot delivery: Game control works closely with the skirmish, NPC and monster teams to ensure that all encounters are fully prepped, ready and briefed on time. They then mark down which encounters have been delivered to the player base
- Liaising with Plot writers: Some members of game control will be responsible for checking the ‘feasibility’ of approved plot. They will work closely with the plot writers to ensure that whatever changes that are being made to the plot are approved, understood and that all teams are happy.
- Problem solving and crisis management: Game control must be calm, professional and collected at all times. Their task is not an easy one but an ability to think logically, calmly and not panic is vital.
Guild Support Team (Adventurers, Treasure Hunters, Court of Daggers):
Job Description:
Guild support are crew members who spend their event working as Guildmasters in either the Adventurers, Treasure Hunters or Court of Daggers. This task is very roleplay heavy as you will be responsible for helping deliver plot to the members of their respective guilds. A knowledge of the Out of character (‘OC’) purposes is also key as some guilds have an OC roles (e.g Treasure hunters – Lost property).
Key Responsibilities:
- Writing plot:Guild Support can ensure the atmosphere of their Guild is maintained through writing encounters for their guilds which are staged by the NPC and Skirmish crews for players to interact with, with the guidance and assistance of Guild Support in-field.
- Player Support: Answer player questions (In or Out-of-Character), clarify rules, and assist players in engaging with the game world and mechanics.
- Presence within the guilds: Guildmasters must be present within the Guild tents and be available to support players during time in.
- Logistics & Setup: May assist with setting up game areas, props (potentially related to Menhirs), and managing specific encounter logistics.
Nation Support:
Job Description:
Nation Support is an embedded NPC role within each of the 9 nations. Their tasks vary from supporting players accessing various elements of the game and directing them to help them find game elements that they enjoy alongside writing plots for their nation. Nation Support is a first port of call for people looking to engage with the game and it can be an intensive roleplay heavy position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plot writing: Each Nation Support team will need to produce plot for the nation each event. Each team will have an allocated number of plot and encounters to create.
- Player Support: Answer player questions (In or Out-of-Character), clarify rules, and assist players in engaging with the game world and mechanics.
- Presence within Nation: Nation Support are embedded NPCs within their Nation and can represent different concepts to provide an example to their Nation of various concepts and kit briefs.
- Liaising with other teams: Working with these other elements of the game to deliver national plot or as a reference point for other teams to deliver nation-relevant plot. Each Team will have Radio access to facilitate this although it may not be every member of each team.
- Camp planning and direction: Gathering info for camp planning and on the day direction of players to ensure they are camped in the relevant area
NPC Crew Member:
Job Description:
Members of the Menhirs Fate NPC Crew are the crew members who focus on portraying a wide variety of characters, from Citizens of the Nine Nations and creatures from the Magical Spheres, to aspects of the Gods and horrible monsters, in the various staging areas around the game. Their role is being a vital part of the world-building of the game, delivering plot written by Nation Support, Game Support and World Plot writers to the players directly, through incursions directly to their camps, and excursions out to other parts of the game world. There is also space for combat roles, though this is not a necessity as NPC Crew work closely with Skirmish Crew under the banner of Monster Management.
Key Responsibilities
- Character Portrayal: Creating believable people within the world who characters can interact with on a number of levels, delivering plot to players by playing all kinds of people, from one-off characters to returning NPCs who become part of the tapestry of Elandra.
- Following Direction: Receive briefings and follow instructions from Monster Coordinator and NPC Leads regarding encounter objectives, tactics, special abilities, and role portrayal.
- Rules Adherence: Strictly adhere to Menhirs Fate gameplay rules, combat rules, safety guidelines, and hit-taking conventions.
- Quick Changes: Be prepared to quickly change costumes, gear, and personas between different encounters.
- Follow Look and Feel guidance from Monster Creative Leads: adhering to the briefs is just as important for crew as for players, and NPC crew must make sure they listen to and follow guidance from the Costume, Makeup and Props leads.
- Reliability: Be available and ready for deployment at designated times and locations during the game.
- Safety Awareness: Maintain constant awareness of both player and crew safety during combat scenarios, prioritizing safe engagement.
Site Maintenance Team:
Job Description This team plays a crucial role in maintaining the site functionality with logistics and fixing as well as performing tasks like bin changes, toilet checking and cleaning when needed (PPE provided) in scheduled patrols . There are both IC and OC times we will need people for and with many small teams covering multiple short shifts – it’s a great role to volunteer for if you want to play your own character outside of your duties. Your efforts will help to create a clean,enjoyable and functional environment for all participants.You will see all areas of the site and game space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rubbish and Bin management: Emptying bins around the site and taking them to a skip. We will have hand carts to help with this.
- Toilet Checking and Cleaning: Usually most toilets just need a flush and a new toilet roll. Sometimes they need a bit more cleaning and we have PPE to make this easy and safe for volunteers. Extreme cases will be escalated to a professional team.
- Litter Picking: before, during and after game time.
- Transport and Logistics: Moving supplies around site in site vehicles and hand carts. Providing solutions and fixes to lighting and structure challenges. Occasional need to leave the site to pick up supplies but not expected of all.
Fire patrols. Making sure fires are used safely and within event guidelines.
Hours: 4 x 1 hour shifts spread out through the day.
We require Site Maintenance team Thursday – Monday of each event – please tell us which days you are available for. Friday-Sunday is mandatory but start and finish times can be adjusted.
